New free COVID-19 test site in Enumclaw expands testing in southeast King County
Summary: A new free COVID-19 test site will open in Enumclaw on Thursday, December 10. This new site will be open three days a week and is located across the street from the Enumclaw Municipal Building.
Starting Thursday, December 10 communities in southeast King County will have a new option for COVID-19 testing at a free testing site in Enumclaw. The testing site is open to anyone, regardless of insurance or immigration status.
Recent rates of COVID-19 and hospitalizations are higher in Enumclaw compared to King County as a whole. While rates and hospitalizations are higher, the number of people getting tested for COVID-19 is lower than in other parts of King County. This site will help close the gap in access to testing, particularly to reach people in more rural areas that otherwise would have to commute long distances to access testing including in Black Diamond, Bonney Lake and Lake Tapps areas.
If you have COVID-like symptoms or have had close contact with someone with COVID-19, Public Health – Seattle & King County urges you to avoid contact with others and get tested immediately. Stay home and away from others while you are waiting for test results.
Hours and Location
The new test site is located at 1512 Wells St. Enumclaw. The site is located across the street from the Enumclaw Municipal Building in the Mutual of Enumclaw parking lot. The site provides drive-through testing. Walk-up testing is also available.
The test site will be open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM beginning Thursday, December 10.
People are encouraged, but not required, to register for a testing appointment. The testing site will be operated by Discovery Health with support from King County. Mutual of Enumclaw has donated the space for the testing site.
Visit Public Health’s COVID-19 testing locations page for scheduling and registration information for the Enumclaw site and other testing locations in King County.
Support for isolation and quarantine
Anyone who tests positive should isolate immediately. For those without a safe place to do so, King County isolation and quarantine sites are available to help people through a difficult situation and reduce risk of transmission. This is especially important for those living with a family member who is elderly or medically fragile, or people experiencing homelessness. Call the King County COVID-19 Call Center (206) 477-3977 to see if isolation and quarantine services are right for you.
“This new testing site will help us serve people in rural King County who would otherwise face a long journey to get tested. As we all know, testing is just one of our safeguards against the threat of this virus - a threat we can dramatically reduce by taking actions such as mask wearing and being careful about social distancing.”
Dow Constantine, King County Executive
“I’m so pleased that the City of Enumclaw is able to support and partner with Mutual of Enumclaw and Public Health – Seattle & King County for a testing site in our area. I encourage residents in Enumclaw and the surrounding communities to take advantage of this test site so as a community we continue to battle down COVID and move to everyone’s goal of lifting restrictions as soon as possible.”
Jan Molinaro, Mayor of Enumclaw
“We have been working with partners across King County to support high-volume testing sites, particularly in areas with higher positivity rates and less access to testing,”. “We are so pleased to have a new testing site open in Enumclaw that will help improve testing access in southeast King County and reach people in more rural areas that otherwise would have to commute long distances to get a test. A critical piece of testing sites is making sure people have the medical and other social supports they need to safely isolate.”
Patty Hayes, Director, Public Health – Seattle & King County
